A Pen is a Powerful Tool
Welcome to the world of meditation in motion, where drawing simple lines transforms your mind from chaos to calm. One line at a time.
Pattern Drawing has surprising benefits, it:
-
activates your confidence;
-
improves your decision-making process;
-
eases perfectionism; and
-
increases presence.
All of my clients want more of all of the above, that is why these classes pair seamlessly with my other work.
And the best part? To attain these benefits, zero art experience is necessary. If you can hold a pen and draw a line - it doesn’t even need to be a straight line - then you can excel at pattern drawing while making decisions with greater ease, becoming more present, more confident, and less perfectionistic. And who doesn't want that?

“BUT! IT’S JUST INK ON THE PAGE.”
What I love about this practice is that there are no mistakes, which means no erasing or starting over when something unintended shows up. Instead, when a line goes astray, with gentle curiosity we simply ask, "What happens next?"
This question creates endless possibilities, and we keep drawing.
Yes, it is just ink on a page. . .
. . . and yet when we practice feeling uncomfortable on the page, we get to create something new from something unintended or unexpected. That "unwanted" line is now an opportunity, rather than a reason to shame, blame, or guilt yourself into believing you’re not capable of creating or doing "anything right."
Practicing feeling uncomfortable in such a safe, low-consequence environment builds confidence for making more important decisions in real life as well.
That is the real magic of Pattern Drawing.
Shame, guilt, stress, or throwing in the towel are effortlessly replaced by curiosity and the beautiful knowing that you have the power to turn unexpected events into possibilities rather than obstacles you don’t want to deal with.
From that perspective, creative solutions naturally appear, both on and off the page.
It all starts with a pen.
(All of my classes are inspired by the Zentangle (R) method of pattern drawing.)

I love how encouraging you are.
It gives me the confidence to go out of my comfort zone,
always ending up with a drawing I like!

Testimonials:
It really is a challenging class for me (Zentangle Unfurled) but I love it! Even if my tile is not what I would do again, I think it’s so good to embrace the process. Everyone is focused and drawing and I love that community feeling. Thank you again!

When I saw this class on the calendar, I signed up immediately. It took me completely out of my self pity party frame of mind. I'm in a completely different headspace this morning. I have watched this happen with the Veterans I teach every week. It was great to feel it happen myself.

Zentangle is a way to incorporate what we know in the “thinking brain” more deeply into the subconscious. Thank you Esther for this beautiful practice
I’m so grateful.

Three Ways to Play with Patterns
Pattern drawing is a great way to spend time with friends in a private group class, online or in person, while learning an accessible mind/body skill, or bonding with coworkers while on retreat.
I've taught private group classes for corporate retreats, adult birthday gatherings, women's groups, and high school, as well as, public libraries.
Private one on one classes are perfect for those who are looking for personalized support in expanding their pattern drawing practice outside of taking group classes or because group classes are not a good fit for them.

Private Group Classes:

I just wanted to send you little note to tell you how much I enjoy class. I have never felt artistic in any way, shape or form. I was nervous about class the first time, but the minute I met you and the other ladies, that nervousness turned into a calmness. So, thank you for this class and adding a new little shine in my life.
